MINNESOTA MEDICAID

Minnesota Medicaid is called Medical Assistance. We help you get it.

In Minnesota, Medicaid is called Medical Assistance, or MA. It is free or low-cost health coverage for people with low incomes, run by the Minnesota Department of Human Services and your county. MinnAssist helps you apply or renew by phone, for free. Book a time at minnassist.com/book or call (866) 655-6606.

Medicaid, MA, MinnesotaCare: what the names mean

  • Medical Assistance (MA) is Minnesota's Medicaid program. If someone says "MN Medicaid", they mean MA.
  • MinnesotaCare is a separate low-cost program for people whose income is a little too high for MA.
  • MNsure is the state website where you can apply for MA, MinnesotaCare or a private plan.
  • Not sure which one fits you? We check with you by phone.
