LOSS OF A SPOUSE
Lost a spouse or partner? We help with your health coverage so you don't have to face it alone.

If you'd rather do it yourself

Common questions
- Should I do this on my own, or call MinnAssist?
- You're not alone. In 2026, 184,963 Minnesotans lost Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare at renewal, and 86% of them lost it over paperwork, not because they stopped qualifying (Minnesota DHS renewal data, see our renewal tracker). Don't be one of them. A MinnAssist navigator does the forms with you by phone, in your language, 9 am to 9 pm, 7 days, and follows up until it's done. Free. Call (866) 655-6606.
- My spouse's insurance covered me. What do I do?
- Call us. Losing coverage can let you get a new plan, and you may qualify for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare.
- Does it cost anything?
- No. Our help is always free, for you and everyone in your family.
