NEW BABY
Had a baby? Here's how to get your baby covered.
If you had Medical Assistance when your baby was born, your baby is covered through the month of their first birthday. You need to report the birth so the coverage starts. We help you do it, free, by phone. Call MinnAssist at (866) 655-6606.
If you have Medical Assistance
Report the birth to your county or MNsure. Your baby stays covered until age 1 while living with you in Minnesota, even if your own coverage changes.
If you have MinnesotaCare
Your baby may be able to get Medical Assistance. Call us and we will check.
If you have a private MNsure plan
You have 60 days after the birth to add your baby. A bigger family can also lower your premium or make you eligible for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare.
What to have ready
Your baby's name and date of birth, and the baby's Social Security number when you get it.
