Does Medical Assistance cover eye exams and eyeglasses?

• Eye exams
• Eyeglasses (frames, lenses, eyeglass case) every two years, including identical replacement for damage, loss or theft
• Repairs to covered frames and lenses
• Tints and polarized lenses, when medically necessary
• Contact lenses for certain conditions (aphakia, keratoconus, aniseikonia); other conditions need prior authorization

Eyeglasses must be chosen from those in the MHCP volume-purchase contract, with some exceptions if you have Medicare or other insurance.

How often does Medical Assistance pay for glasses?
