Lost Medical Assistance? You may have 4 months to get it back

If your Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare ended because a renewal or proof was not turned in, you usually have until the end of the fourth month after it ended to send it in. The county then checks your eligibility again.

Most people who lose coverage at renewal still qualify. The paperwork was missed, the letter went to an old address, or the proof was not received.

Start by finding the closing letter and the date your coverage ended. Then call us. We look at what is missing, help you fill out the renewal and gather proof, send it in and follow up. The sooner you send it, the smaller any gap in coverage.

If it has been more than 4 months, you can apply again any time. MinnAssist helps for free: (866) 655-6606.
