How to cancel MNsure, MinnesotaCare or Medical Assistance coverage

1. Sign in to your MNsure account and go to the My Enrollments page.
2. Find the plan you want to end.
3. If coverage has already started, choose "Disenroll." If it has not started, choose "Cancel Coverage."
4. Answer the questions about who is leaving the plan and why.
5. Select the last day of coverage.

Important: if you end your coverage through MNsure, you can't re-enroll in a plan until the next open enrollment period, unless you qualify for a special enrollment period (special enrollment).

Avoid a gap or overlap: for example, if new coverage starts June 1, you could disenroll anytime in March, April or May and choose May 31 as your last day through MNsure.

Billing: contact your insurance company to stop automatic payments.

To end your Medical Assistance coverage, contact your county or Tribal office. Find your county office on our county pages.

To end your MinnesotaCare coverage, contact the Minnesota Department of Human Services.

How do I cancel my MNsure plan?
